We love our mom of the month series! Do you know a special mom in our community who deserves some special recognition? Fill out the form and nominate a mom you know here! Thank you to True Sky Credit Union for partnering with us to provide a special gift to our Mom of the Month!

We are excited to introduce our December 2018 Mom of the Month, Amber White!

Amber was nominated by her friend, Melissa Crum. Here’s what Melissa had to say about her sweet friend!

Amber is a wife, mom of two, and a middle school English teacher. Amber also tirelessly gives of her time as the event chairwoman for the St. Jude Oklahoma City walk/run. Amber gives so much to many not expecting even a thank you in return. This would be a great way to show her how much she is appreciated!

Let’s get to know Amber!

How many children do you have and what are their ages?

Hayli, 6 and Jaxon, 5

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

My favorite thing about being a mom is having two little best friends. I know people say you are not supposed to be best friends with your kids, but I am. There is no one I would rather hang out with than my husband and kiddos. We have so much fun together!

What has been the most challenging thing about being a mom?

The most challenging thing about being a mom has to be the mom guilt. I always second guess myself as to whether I’m doing it right or wrong. I have a great example and a wonderful mom who I call often for advice but it’s still hard!

What could you not survive without as a mom?

I could not survive without my faith, my tribe, and let’s be honest, my coffee. My faith guides me every day and my tribe of supporters has been amazing. I am a true believer in that it takes a village!

What is your proudest mom moment?

I am always so proud of my kids but I do have a defining moment that made me go AHA, I am doing something right as a mom. I started volunteering with the St. Jude walk/run to end childhood cancer about five years ago. Then, in 2017, I got to spend the weekend in Memphis getting to experience the hospital at a leadership conference. My daughter Hayli was four at the time and very curious about my trip and the sick children at the hospital. I explained cancer and the children to her the best I could and she decided then that she wanted to help. She started making bracelets for donations and fundraising for the walk. Her first year she raised over $500 for the hospital. This year both of my kids decided they wanted to help raise money for the children of St. Jude and they raised $2,385 by making bracelets for donations and were in the top 5 teams for the walk. It all happened so fast but as I look back on everything, I get emotional because my children have such sweet servants hearts and I take the greatest joy in watching God shape them into these lovingly little people.

Amber, we recognize you as one amazing mama! We hope you enjoy your gift card from True Sky Credit Union! Congrats on being our December Mom of the Month!
