Have you ever scrolled through Instagram and saw a beautiful Acai Bowl and then wonder what in the world is Acai and how they make those beautiful bowls?
Well first of all Acai is just a type of berry and you can find it easily nowadays at any health food store in the frozen section or in a powder form.
I fell in love with Acai Bowls a few years back when I used to work in Santa Monica, California; you could find them anywhere and they were delicious! So when I stopped going to California I started creating my own at home and playing with several recipes until I found the one that we love the most. You can combine your favorite fruits and make it your own, involve your kids and let them chose their favorite fruits and toppings, that is the fun part about it.
Simple Acai Bowl
- 1 cup of frozen mango
- 1 cup of frozen berries
- 2 to 3 bananas
- 1 Acai pouch or 1 tbsp of Acai Powder
- 1 cup of almond milk
- 1 date or 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
- 1 cup of fresh berries to use as toppings
Feel free to add chia or hemp seeds if you like.
Put all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth
Note: You can play with the consistency by not adding all the almond milk at once, remember that less liquid equals more thickness.
Pour in your favorite bowl and add as many toppings as you like. We added fresh berries and granola, but you can add more fruit, shredded coconut, goji berries, etc., the options are endless!
