Why You Should Choose AIM Clinics for Your Child’s ABA Therapy

This is a sponsored post for AIM Clinics. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

“I am positive, without a doubt, if it hadn’t been for ABA and Sheri Homishak my son would still be non-verbal, shaking an item in his hand and spinning around in circles. ABA gave my son not only a chance but also patience, love, and understanding. Jonathan has come so far! He has surpassed all that was expected and even more!”

          – Aimee Spears-Newcomer, mother of an AIM Clinics client.

Why Choose AIM Clinics

You might be a mama who just received an autism diagnosis for your child. Maybe you are an autism veteran or your child has another disability. Perhaps you are a child development professional. No matter what stage you are in with your autism journey, the Oklahoma City community is gaining a valuable resource you need to know about.

AIM (Autism in Motion) Clinics is an ABA therapy provider coming to Norman. While they do not officially open till March 18, they are currently taking new patients. Go ahead and check out AIM Clinics now so you can take advantage of their services as soon as their doors open!

So what is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an individualized, evidence-based therapy that takes an understanding of how behavior works and uses positive reinforcements to achieve results. It can help increase skills, like language, communication, and social interactions, as well as decrease problem behaviors, like elopement and aggression. It produces measurable data, and most importantly, progress.

But why choose AIM Clinics?

AIM Clinics’ foundation is based on a mother’s determination.

Sheri Homishak was an optometrist living in Arkansas when her two sons were diagnosed with autism. When she could not find ABA services in her state, she moved her family across the country. Sheri was so impressed with the results that she became determined to bring access to ABA therapy to Arkansas and other states. She actually went back to school, became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and opened AIM Clinics.

What a testament! Not only to the therapy itself, but it is encouraging to know that the providers at AIM understand what it’s like to parent a child with autism.

AIM Clinics’ focus is one-on-one.

Have you ever heard the truthful and accurate quote by Dr. Stephen Shore, “If you’ve met someone with autism, you’ve met one person with autism?” Wouldn’t it make sense, then, that each person’s therapy and what works for them would be different too?

An in-depth assessment allows the AIM team to create a treatment plan tailored to each person’s individual needs and executes it with one-on-one attention.

AIM Clinics provides therapy where kids are comfortable- at home, at school, and at the clinic!

It’s great if intended goals are achieved in a clinical setting, but what if there are triggers at home or school or elsewhere? Not only does AIM conduct therapy in a variety of settings, but they also provide training and support for parents to help reinforce the progress at home.

None of us are given a roadmap on how to get our children the best services to meet their needs, but AIM Clinics can help.

How do you get started?

If your child has an autism diagnosis from a doctor, you can schedule a free consultation by calling (405) 253-0071 or emailing [email protected]. In Oklahoma, ABA therapy is required to be covered by private health insurers.

If your child does not have an autism diagnosis, but you are interested in an autism screening, you can talk to their pediatrician, contact SoonerStart if your child is under 36 months old, or contact the Oklahoma Autism Center

AIM Clinic’s new office is located at 2240 36th Avenue NW, Suites 100 & 110; Norman, OK 73072. Check out their website.  You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter

I am originally from northeast Oklahoma. I attended college at the University of Central Oklahoma and stuck around the Oklahoma City area after graduation. Now I am a breadwinning wife and mom. I have 3 amazing kiddos and 2 mini dachshunds. As a family, we try to live as low maintenance and stress-free as possible. Our home is full of playing, laughing, cooking, eating, swimming, praying, gardening, reading, napping, dancing, and hugging puppies.
