Top 5 Fancy Date Night Restaurants

Top 5 RestaurantsA night out on the town with our main man.  Without our precious kiddos that we all love so very much.  BOTH hands to eat your fancy dinner with…we ALL NEED this to be a priority in our life.  On top of that, we also need to really do it up right every so often as well.  We had a great post on what to wear, but now here is a list of personal favorites and in my opinion, best restaurants in the metro area for a nicer date night.  Most of these will leave you with around $100-$150 bill after appetizers, drinks and dessert.  But listen, YOU’RE worth it!  Your marriage is worth it – there’s no better way to invest in each other than uninterrupted quality time.

1.  Paseo Grill

This is probably my favorite go-to restaurant for date night.  The ambiance is absolutely intimate, romantic and perfect for a night to reconnect with your husband.  You can request a two person booth with a privacy curtain to make it seem like it’s just you two and no one else.   And then don’t get me started on the food.  I actually despise mushrooms, but I’m telling you, they have the best cream of mushroom soup I’ve ever tasted in my life.  My favorite entree is the southwest meatloaf.  Yes, I know it sounds gross, but paired with their house potatoes and glazed carrots – it’s delicious.  You cannot go wrong with ANY of their desserts – if you’ve saved the room, but my favorite is the Chocolate Divine Cake.  A 3 layer cake with chocolate mousse, French butter cream and chocolate buttercream frosting – they don’t call it divine for nothing!

After dinner you can stroll through the Paseo District and imagine you’re in a completely different culture.  So much art and fun to take in!  Every first Friday of the month is the Paseo Art Walk – the entire street comes alive with people, music and open galleries full of appetizers (and some drinks!)

 2.  Redrock Canyon Grill

What is more romantic than watching the sunset over Lake Hefner?  While I love this restaurant, they do not take reservations, so this would be a great place to head for an earlier dinner as the wait list fills up quickly on the weekend.  Request a booth overlooking the water for a truly romantic experience.

Redrock Canyon Grill is best known for their rotisserie chicken.  I have a weird phobia of food still on the bone, so while I haven’t tried it – my husband is a BIG fan of the “cluck-n-oink”, chicken and ribs.  He swears it’s the best rotisserie chicken he’s ever tasted.  We love to start with their stuffed poblano pepper and ALWAYS finish with the “Something Chocolate” dessert.  Trust me, it’s a must!  After all that delicious food, walk off a few calories around the lake and take in the beautiful scenery!

3.  Cheever’s Cafe

Cheever’s has never disappointed me.  Every appetizer is perfection (though I admit I can’t stomach the quail).  I’m drooling just thinking about the Boneless Beef Short Ribs.  My husband loves their duck entree and every side is delicious.  Their ambiance is a little less romantic, as the tables are very close together but Cheever’s brings a sophisticated feel that can’t be replicated.  The food is top notch and worth a visit on date night.  SIDE NOTE: they also have a KILLER brunch!

Because this restaurant lacks the private feel, maybe plan to walk over to Cuppies & Joe for a sweet treat and hopefully snag a corner to reconnect!

4.  Red PrimeSteak

If you’re wanting to go all out on the fancy and do a night on the town right – this is your answer.  Red Prime is one of the most fun and fancy restaurants in town.  You’ll immediately forget how much spit-up you cleaned up that day – promise!  I’m fairly positive every single cut of beef on the menu is above par and they have tons of options for a crust or sauce, making it your own experience.  Consider sharing two sides, but absolutely order the green chili mac.  And then bring me the leftovers.

You’re not far from downtown at this point, so you could double whammy this fancy night by finishing with chocolate at The Melting Pot (the only reason to go there in my opinion!)  Red Prime is also known for having one of the best happy hours if you can’t stomach throwing down $45 for a piece of meat!

5. Signature Grill

I’m cheating on this one as it’s in Edmond, not Oklahoma City and I haven’t actually been there.  But it was voted on by my fellow contributors, so it makes the list!  After perusing the website though, I cannot wait to go try their scallops, which is one of my favorite dishes, though near impossible to find in Oklahoma…The side list is impressive and I can’t wait to make a trip to Edmond to try this place out.  Fellow contributors raved that the ambiance is one of the nicest in Oklahoma City – on par with New York City restaurants.

What is YOUR favorite restaurant to go to on a childless date with your hubby?  Have you been to any of these listed?

  1. The French Hen gets my vote! Though it’s in Tulsa, it’s so worth the drive. We had the most amazing spicy fries calamari with roasted red pepper aioli to start us off. Then, I had the grilled duck breast with orange & cherry glacé. Save room because the dessert menu is amazing. The berry creme brûlée was divine! Ambiance is very romantic and private. I cannot wait to go back!!!
