The holidays are coming!! School programs, Santa, holiday parties…there is so much fun to be had! As mamas, though, we know that the holidays can be a bit stressful when we’re trying to keep track of ALL. THE. THINGS. Like you, we want to make special memories for our kiddos without losing our minds or busting our budgets! We’re here to help simplify the holiday activities that we’re sure your kiddos will love. We’ve narrowed our holiday listings down to one activity per area of the metro, many of which are free!
First up: Norman! A huge thanks to the Sam Noble Museum for sponsoring this guide, and our team of moms who have given us their suggestions of what NOT to miss this December!

Sam Noble Museum Holiday Happening
Get in the holiday spirit at the Sam Noble Museum’s annual Holiday Happening event, taking place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5. Enjoy cookie decorating, pictures with Santa, games, winter crafts and a blizzard of fun! This FREE event features craft tables, chances to win prizes, and a face-painting station. Visitors will also be able to explore the museum’s galleries and interact with real museum specimens. Don’t miss out on special discounts in Excavations, the museum store! This event is open to the public and all ages are welcome. Admission is complimentary!
Guthrie:
Guthrie Territorial Christmas-Enjoy traditional territorial events in Downtown Guthrie from November 30 through December 14, including a Christmas parade, a Distinctive Homes tour, and Victorian Walk Nights. On Victorian walks, listen to carolers dressed in period clothing, sip wassail, hot chocolate, or spiced cider, and browse shop windows filled with live visions of Victorian life.
Edmond:
Boys Ranch Town Drive-Thru Christmas Pageant-Drive through a live nativity scene as you listen to the Christmas story via audio download in your car! From December 6-8, and from 7-9 pm, the Boys Ranch Town of Edmond hosts this free event for the community.
Midtown Oklahoma City:
Holiday Pop-up shops-Get your shopping on at this year’s holiday pop-up shops in Midtown! Support local businesses, rotated weekly, to cross everyone off your shopping list! You can also pick out your Christmas tree at the Bishop John Carroll tree lot and grab a hot chocolate from Katiebug’s.
Downtown Oklahoma City:
Downtown in December-Ok, this isn’t exactly just one event. But even if you just check out one event from this list, you’ve experienced Downtown OKC in December! From the Devon Ice Rink to free holiday water taxi rides down the Bricktown canal, there is surely something for everyone downtown this holiday season!
Moore:
Christmas Spectacular-On December 7, head down to the Central Park Amphitheater in Moore for a free holiday fireworks spectacular! Includes inflatables, Christmas music, and a visit with Santa Claus.
Yukon:
Christmas in the Park-Beginning the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the city of Yukon hosts an incredible Christmas light display from 6-11 pm each evening through New Years Eve. Drive or walk through three interconnected city parks to see over 4.5 million lights, take photos at selfie stations, and visit your favorite Christmas characters. For a small fee, the Santa Express train will drive you through the lights display.
Greater OKC area:
Chickasha Festival of Lights-I have to confess this is something my own kiddos look forward to every year. It’s well worth the hour-plus drive. We head out of town early, get some bbq in Chickasha, then make our way to the Festival. You can walk or drive through, but I highly recommend parking your car and walking around. There are food trucks, carriage rides, a Santa, ice rink, ferris wheel, and a petting zoo. Parking and the light display are both free; additional activities have a small cost associated.
