The Day Pinterest Failed Me

When I’m sick of the decor in a room, I immediately hop on Pinterest to see what sort of ideas I can re-create in my home.  I had been on a big kick with transitioning my son’s room from a random nursery to a big boy room complete with trains, cars and airplanes.  He loved it!  When I was ready to work on my daughter’s room, I didn’t want to change as much but since she is over-the-top in LOVE with trains, I wanted to figure out a way to put a {girly} train in her room.  I had something in mind in the form of canvases but literally could not find anything on Pinterest that was even close to what I wanted.  I was baffled! This has never happened before because anytime I had an idea, Pinterest swooped in and came to my rescue.

Who knew this was even an option??

So, with Pinterest giving me the ultimate FAIL, what was I going to do?

Luckily, I do have some sort of craftiness in me – although it doesn’t usually get me very far.  I’m more of a visual person so I can’t just imagine something up.  Hobby Lobby came to my rescue with their packages of canvases on sale, coordinating fabric all laid out together and some sticky felt {which I just found out about!} to make my project a breeze!

I covered the canvases with the help of my handy-dandy hubby.  I hung them up in the dimensions I wanted, making sure they hung centered.

I traced images of trains that I printed off  {remembering I was drawing on the backside so it would be opposite when I was done} on the sticky felt…cut them out…stuck them on…and boom!  I have some custom canvas art for my daughter (which is also easy to change)!

Custom made just for her.

What are YOU creating lately?  Has Pinterest ever failed you?
