The 5 Best Farmers Markets In & Around OKC

Farmers Markets in OKCBest Farmers Markets OKC

I absolutely, completely LOVE farmers markets in OKC.

Not only do I love fresh fruits and vegetables, but I also love being able to support local farmers – families whose job it is to grow and provide food for others. Getting to meet the person who grew your food is pretty awesome. You could argue there’s no job more important than farming, but you could also argue it’s one of the more difficult paths to choose, especially in today’s economic climate.

So it’s more important now than ever to support our local farmers! I’ve rounded up my top favorite farmer’s markets in the OKC metro area. Please consider giving them your support this spring/summer!

Edmond Farmers Market

Saturday Market: Every Saturday | April 20 – November 2 | 8am-1pm in Downtown Edmond!

Midweek Market: Every Wednesday | June – August | 8am – 1pm at Mitch Park

Since 1988, the Edmond Farmer’s Market has been a destination for Oklahoma’s freshest produce and manufactured food items. It’s located downtown, so it’s the perfect shopping spot for residents, office workers, and visitors. There are also flower and gardening vendors, and a full calendar of events. It’s also offered on Saturdays AND Wednesdays, so you have two options to choose from!

Bonus: If your kiddo is into trains, this market is close to the tracks, so you might actually get to see a train up-close and personal.

Oklahoma City Farmers Public Market

Every Saturday | Year Round | 9am-2pm

This Saturday Farmers Market creates a space that connects Oklahoma farmers and ranchers with the general shopping public. The open market is year around affair and located on the first floor of the Historic Oklahoma City Farmers Public Market.

Scissortail Farmers Market

Saturday Market: Every Saturday | April-October | 9am-1pm
Corner of Oklahoma City Boulevard and S. Robinson Avenue

Midweek Market: Bi-weekly Wednesday | May-September | 6-9pm
Hill Pavilion, Lower Park

Located at the corner of Oklahoma City Boulevard and S. Robinson Avenue, this market is a producer-only market (meaning all items must be homegrown, handmade and/or vendor-created from locally-owned operations within the state of Oklahoma). There is the popular “veggie valet”, where you can drive through to pick up your produce! And new this year is a mid-week Farmers Market beginning in May. This second market is scheduled for the last Wednesday of each month from May through September at the Hill Pavilion and Promenade in the Lower Park area.

Paseo Farmers Market

My husband and I had a booth at the Paseo Farmers Market selling seasonal annual and perennial flowers and plants from our landscaping company, Echelawn. We got to know the organizers and the vendors well, and we are proud to be part of the market family! It’s truly a special community with such a passion to serve. The market had to transfer to online during the pandemic.

This is an online, year-round neighborhood farmers market with pop up in-person market events. Follow them on social media to see when they are up! Weekly pick up for online market orders at Flora Bodega (3020 N Walker Ave).

Norman Farm Market

Norman Farm Market offers a year-round farmers market. Saturdays run from 8am-1pm April-Oct and 9am-1pm Nov-Mar. Additionally, from April through July the market runs on Tuesdays from 4-7pm and Tuesday mornings market after July from 9:30-11:30am. It began in 1980 and is the longest-running farm market in Oklahoma! It was named one of the top 20 medium-level farmers markets in the nation in 2012. Not too shabby, Norman! I have to admit, as an OU graduate, I have a soft spot for Norman and will make it a goal of mine to visit this market this spring and check out what they have to offer!

Urban Agrarian

This isn’t “technically” a farmers market, but it’s basically a grocery store version of a farmers market, so if the markets above conflict with weekend plans or nap times, you can check out Urban Agrarian for local produce, meats, dairy, pasta, baked goods, preserved foods and more. You can shop online for pickup, at the original storefront in the Historic Farmers Market District, or their new location in downtown Edmond. Lots of what you might find at the farmer’s markets above, you can get at UA, but with extended hours.
