Summer 2019 Guide to “You Pick” Farms & Orchards

Picking your own fruit can be a fun activity for all ages during the hot months of an Oklahoma summer! Pack up some water and lunches and support some Oklahoma businesses while picking your own homegrown fruit!

Agape House Berry Farm

Currently open for strawberry season, and with blackberries coming soon! My family and I personally visited this farm 2 years ago and had a blast. My 2-year-old son loved filling up his bag (and his mouth) with berries. When we got home, we made blackberry pie! It was so fun to personally pick out our own fruit and make something delicious with it! I do recommend checking their Facebook page before driving out, though-they occasionally have to close unexpectedly due to weather or low fruit supply.

Their address is:
10912 S. Czech Hall Road
Mustang, OK

Buffalo Creek Berry Farm

Currently open for strawberry picking! Hours differ depending on the day, but they post daily updates on their Facebook page. In addition to strawberries, you can pick other in-season produce. Everything needed to pick is provided by the farm. Located in Mustang, this is a quick drive from the OKC area!

Conscious Community Co-op

This Co-op was started just this year by the owners of Providence Farms in North Edmond. What started as a small fruit and vegetable stand has now expanded to a community farmers market. While not technically a “you pick” orchard, this is a great option if you live in Edmond and want to stay close to home, while still supporting local businesses. Located near Coltrane and Waterloo, Conscious Community is a Farmers Market that offers produce from multiple farms in Oklahoma. They have teamed up with other farms in Oklahoma who also practice chemical-free gardening, and everything will be offered at a one-stop shop that features local farms, baked goods, gardening supplies like plants and seeds, bulk honey and maple syrup. They also plan to have family-oriented events and workshops throughout the summer. You can check out their Facebook page for updates on their hours and what activities they will be offering.

Their address is:
2900 East Waterloo Road
Edmond, OK

Faithful Farms Peach Orchard

While not open at the time of publication, the owner of Faithful Farms is hopeful for a successful peach season this year. Check out their Facebook page for updates on when this farm will be open for business!

Their address is:
311 Twin Bridges Road
Ardmore, OK

The Farm on Fishmarket

Currently open for strawberry picking! In addition to strawberries, they will also have blackberries, as well as most seasonal vegetables and free-range eggs throughout the summer. For those interested in organic produce, The Farm is not certified organic, but they do use many organic practices! Hours through July are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-2, Saturdays 8-5, and Sundays 1-5. You can also find their produce at the Conscious Community Co-Op, mentioned earlier in this post.

Visit their Facebook page and website for updates.

Their address is:
37312 Fishmarket Road
Wanette, OK

Sorghum Mill Christmas Tree and Blackberry Farm

In the month of June, Sorghum Mill berry farm is a convenient location for Edmond locals to pick blackberries. Call 405-340-5488 for dates and hours of operation, which vary throughout the summer. Return in the month of December for your freshly cut Christmas tree!

Their address is:

Edmond, OK

Wind Drift Orchards

For peach and nectarine lovers, Wind Drift Orchards is a great place to visit. Right now, their website and Facebook page both say they will be updated in May with their seasonal information and hours. You can visit their website here.

If you have been to a “you pick” orchard that isn’t mentioned here, please share in the comments! Happy picking!

Hello, OKC! I am originally a native of Boulder, Colorado, where I lived for 18 years. I moved to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma Christian University where I met my husband, Garrett, on a blind date. We stayed in Edmond due to the extremely high cost of living in Colorado combined with the extremely high cost of student loans from attending a private university, and 9 years in to marriage, we are still here! We have 3 wonderful kiddos! Scott (4), Anna (2), & Rhett (2). We adopted Scott at birth, and had the twins with the help of fertility treatments and sperm donation. You can find us mostly at home in South Edmond, because taking 3 little kids out in public is no joke. My favorite things include cold weather, coffee, planning my kid's birthday parties 6 months in advance, and truffle mushroom pizza.
