Platters made for each Oklahoma City Moms Blog contributor by Wings members.

Wings Event Center is a beautiful venue nestled in on Eastern, just north of Memorial Road in Edmond. Not only does it have scenic views across a pond, and a gazebo and outdoor porch that are breathtaking, but it has large open rooms perfect for any gathering or reception – perfect for company holiday parties, weddings, and more. It also is home to a special needs adult program where their mission is “to enhance the lives of adults with developmental disabilities through social, vocational and residential programs guided by principles of the Bible.” We were so touched that the members of this community came together to prepare for our special event.  They helped set up the tables and chairs, rolled the silverware and each had a part in making the most beautiful platters and wing ornaments for every contributor in attendance. Many items that the members make can be purchased in the Wings Gift Shop, which also carries some other Oklahoma local favorites or market items. This program touches the lives of many, and if you know of anyone who could benefit, please check out their website and social media for more information.WingsCollage

You can buy this locally in stores – Sprouts, Kamp’s Meat Market, Red Dirt Emporium and more, or on their website. There are four flavors to try -mild, medium, pretty hot and super duper hot. We want to know which one is your favorite!

Love Crazy Designs started out as photography and ended up as accessories focused around leather flowers. Owner Reagan McCune handmade a few silk flowers for a girl to wear in a picture and then turned the flowers into a necklace.  After wearing that necklace to her children’s school and having several ask where she “bought it,”  a business was born.  Every leather flower is handmade.  Currently LoveCrazy Designs is very passionate about their “Crown of Hope” project.  For every hat purchased from LoveCrazy Designs they provide a fashionable hat for a cancer patient.  The project has provided nearly 200 hats since February 2015.

Mustang Creek Alpacas offers a wide variety of products made entirely from Alpaca fleece.  Alpaca fleece compares to the luxurious feel of cashmere but durable like sheeps wool and contains the same moisture wicking properties as wool.  However, alpaca fleece does not itch and does not contain lanolin, making it 99% hypoallergenic.  Alpaca fiber is hollow in the center which allows it to “breathe” and adjust itself to your body temperature.  Therefore, many items made from alpaca can work year round.  Their items can be purchased online or locally at the Mercantile Store on historic Route 66 in downtown Yukon (430 W. Main Street).

Party Gypsy
“My best ideas always come to me at midnight the night before a craft show when I’m already in over my head! These sweet little deer prints were one of those ideas. I had demonstrated a similar craft using paint sticks a few weeks prior during my weekly DIY segment, Pins & Projects, on News 9, but thought it would be even more fun to incorporate the deer and felt flowers. I also make and sell a mix of party supplies (cupcake toppers, cake banners, banners, high chair banners, etc), holiday burlap banners and wreaths. And with the help of my husband, we make wood plank ‘Oklahomas’ and wood arrows, too.” – Coleen, owner

  1. I keep hearing great things about Freezer Meal Society. My family is getting tired of having breakfast for dinner when I’m too tired to figure out what’s for dinner!
