It’s the very first month of a brand new year, and I’ve got some big ideas.
The new year brings a fresh start and the motivation to intentionally improve parts of our lives! As a mom, there are some resolutions that I just know are not going to happen….Like, will this be the year I finally conquer Mt. Laundry? (Nope.) Some of my goals could really go either way….Like, will I break my personal record of a Whole 6, and complete a Whole 30? (It could happen.) While de-cluttering and a healthy lifestyle are high up on my list, relationships always take the cake.
In my first years of motherhood, making mom friends was always something I hoped for in the new year, and now that I’ve found them, my focus has shifted to cultivating those relationships and intentionally making time for them.
If you’re heading into 2018 wondering if this could be the year you find your circle of mom friends, the answer is most definitely “YES!”. There’s a reason every single one of the mom blogs you follow has a dozen articles on finding your village and building your tribe. Although entering into motherhood means you probably won’t even get 5 minutes in the bathroom by yourself, it can still feel just SO lonely.
Oklahoma City Moms blog doesn’t just want to write about it…we want to help. We have a goal to facilitate opportunity for our readers to find REAL friendships. In an effort to do this, we have created 8 neighborhood playgroups serving different areas of the metro (and even one made JUST for dads!) The groups have a minimum of one meet up per month and are coordinated by our wonderful volunteer Playgroup Ambassadors. In addition to the group events, the neighborhood groups provide a place to ask for recommendations, share parenting struggles, and get to know other mamas in your area.
We would LOVE to see you at a play date in 2018! If you’re new, you’ll be welcomed with open arms. If you’ve already got a few besties, bring them along for a fun meet up someone else has all ready planned FOR you! It’s always worth it to take a leap, go to the play date, and talk to that mama! She may just be your new best friend!
