Moms Night Out at The Fine Arts Institute {Recap!}

signageRecently, we partnered with The RED Team and the Fine Arts Institute in Edmond for a fabulous Mom’s Night Out evening of fun and painting!

If you haven’t been to the Fine Arts Institute, they are Edmond’s non-profit community arts organization offering a wide range of educational enrichment for both adults and children.  Their classes include drawing, painting, clay, pottery, theater arts, mixed media, printmaking, jewelry design, seasonal art and more.  Check out their summer camp offerings as well.

Our sponsor, Terra Myers with The Red Team was there for the enjoyable evening as well.  If you are looking to move to our wonderful city or are thinking about simply relocating, you won’t find a better mother/daughter team to help you through the process.  They can put you on a listing email to get the information you need or are available to answer any questions you might have!

IUCatering
Interurban Catering provided the savory half of our menu for the evening.

The evening began in the beautiful courtyard area, with a scrumptious spread from Interurban Catering. We cannot say enough good things about Interurban and their fabulous mini foods for this event.  Hummus and veggie cups, mini mac and cheese cups, mini twice baked potatoes and some amazing chicken salad bites fed the savory side of attendees appetites.  They also offered adult beverages including rock candy champagne in fun spring colors!

For those with a sweet tooth, Rick’s Fine Chocolates and Cafe 501 provided a variety of delicious dessert goodness.  Located in historic downtown Guthrie, Rick’s Fine Chocolates offers handcrafted, locally made chocolates that literally melt in your mouth.  The ladies sampled cake and cookie balls, truffles and more traditional chocolates, like peanut butter cups and coconut mounds and the verdict was unanimous – you can’t go wrong at Rick’s! Cafe 501 didn’t disappoint either with a tray full of brownies and salted caramel bars from their Edmond bakery!

Generosity truly does rule at Perk Place. Every transaction sends money to worthy causes – both locally and globally. In addition to hot and iced coffee, Perk Place also offers smoothies and a full breakfast and lunch menu.  Catering options are also available.

The FAI provided two rooms set up for painting, each with it’s own instructor. Jillian and Kelli lead their classrooms through one of two great designs – a buffalo or the state of Oklahoma on a 11 x 14″ canvas that each mom got to take home!  These wonderful teachers helped each attendee with painting techniques including an overlay of colors, paint wash, mixing and different types of brush strokes. Each person chose their own style, colors and position of the buffalo or the state and uniqueness was encouraged! The final step included exploring typography and how to design your initial or monogram.

The halls between classrooms were quickly filled with laughter and friendly spies trying to get a peak of the skills being thrown down in the room next door. Amazing ideas and designs flowed out of each room and each mom took home a masterpiece in it’s own rite.

Local businesses were incredibly generous with their giveaway donations for this event.  Door prizes were provided by Around the Corner Cafe, The Delta Cafe, Emory Anne Interiors, Humble Pie, Tracy McMahan-Matilda Jane Clothing, Minska Massage and Othello’s.
