Mom of the Month: Heather Pike {January 2018}

We are loving our Mom of the Month series!  Do you know a special mom in our community who deserves some special recognition? Fill out the form to nominate a mom you know here. Thank you to Whole Foods Market Oklahoma City for partnering with us to provide a special gift for our Mom of the Month!

We are excited to introduce you to our January 2018 Mom of the Month, Heather Pike!

Heather was nominated by her daughter, Zoe Mack. This is what she had to say about her mom.

“I know you said 3 to 5 sentences but someone so amazing can’t be contained in that small amount of words. First and foremost, she is my mom. I would nominate her everyday if I could. She is what I would call a “backstager.” My mom doesn’t need the recognition but she keeps things moving. After giving birth to my little brother, Layton, our lives changed. At 11 months old, he contracted bacterial meningitis. Due to his illness he suffered from a stroke and lost his hearing. He was not supposed to live. After countless therapies, doctor visits, surgeries, medicines, and endless support from friends and family, Layton was able to begin the process of overcoming and growing. Who was there every step of the way? My mom. She is a true advocate for her children and amazing support for her husband. My dad is an OKC firefighter. He is brave, creative and resilient. They have supported each other through difficult and simple times. To be the mother of a child with special needs, the wife of a firefighter, a woman in business, AND a truly gracious person takes relentless strength.”

Let’s get to know Heather!

How many children do you have, and what are their ages?

Two children, Zoe and Layton, ages 24 and 19.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

There is no greater JOY than to see my kids happy.

What is the most challenging thing about being a mom?

Probably the most challenging thing is creating time for myself.

What could you not survive without as a mom?

I couldn’t survive without an amazing family, friends, and faith.

What is your proudest mom moment?

I have experienced so many proud moments being the mom of Zoe and Layton.  I am most proud of their sibling relationship and their heart for others.

Heather, we recognize you as being an amazing mom!  We hope you enjoyed your goodies from Whole Foods Market Oklahoma City! Congrats on being our January Mom of the Month!

I fell in love with my husband, Dustin, when I was a wide eyed 15 year old. I have been a mostly loving wife since June 5, 2010, and a mom since February 16, 2012. I live right by Tinker AFB, and I have three little ones- Lyla, 6, Karrick, 2, and our bonus baby Juliet, almost 1 year old! Along with serving as Community Engagement Manager for OKCMB, I work part time from the closet under our stairs teaching English to Chinese students early in the morning! The most relaxing part of my day is when I drink my whole cup of coffee -HOT- while it’s still dark, and the rest of my house is still and quiet. During the day, the kids and I are out and about, exploring the city and avoiding the laundry. I do my very best to run a happy and healthy household for my husband and the little people God has entrusted to me.
