Blythe was nominated by Melinda Shaffer.  Here is what she had to say about this amazing mama!

“Blythe is one of the happiest and most selfless people I have ever met. She has helped countless new moms through the transition that is motherhood. She is passionate about self-care and is encouraging to everyone she meets. She is truly a bright light. She is relentlessly positive.”

Let’s get to know Blythe!

How many children do you have, and what are their ages?

Two kids, ages 13 and 9.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

My favorite thing about being a mom is seeing who my children really are!  They come with such unique likes, talents, abilities and qualities! It is fun to see what piques their interest, and watch them grow into their various talents!

What is the most challenging thing about being a mom?

The most challenging thing about being a mom is figuring out how to meet both of their needs.  I have been a single mom for 7+ years now, and there are times when I feel like I fall short of what each of them needs at a particular time.  It can be tough to fit in one-on-one time with each of them, and they both really need those moments of my solo attention.

What could you not survive without as a mom?

SELF CARE! I went my first eight years as a mom in martyr mode.  My house was spotless. I provided super cute and healthy snacks and age appropriate activities.  We hosted play dates.  I would get up at 3 a.m. and scrub baseboards to keep everything “perfect”.  It was exhausting!  I wasn’t present with my kids.  I was always thinking of the next thing on my list.  Now that I schedule regular time to read, write, walk, go out with friends, nap, whatever I need at the time, I am so much happier!  I am able to be a better mom now than when I was busy all the time trying to prove I was a “good mom”.  Taking a break from that has made me a fantastic mom!

What is your proudest mom moment?

I am proud of my kids every day, honestly!  I make a point to tell them all the time how proud of them I am.  My kids are turning out to be such cool people.  I am proud of who they are at their core – especially when they watch out for each other!

Blythe, we recognize you as being an amazing mom!  We hope you enjoyed your goodies from Whole Foods Market Oklahoma City! Congrats on being our March Mom of the Month!

I fell in love with my husband, Dustin, when I was a wide eyed 15 year old. I have been a mostly loving wife since June 5, 2010, and a mom since February 16, 2012. I live right by Tinker AFB, and I have three little ones- Lyla, 6, Karrick, 2, and our bonus baby Juliet, almost 1 year old! Along with serving as Community Engagement Manager for OKCMB, I work part time from the closet under our stairs teaching English to Chinese students early in the morning! The most relaxing part of my day is when I drink my whole cup of coffee -HOT- while it’s still dark, and the rest of my house is still and quiet. During the day, the kids and I are out and about, exploring the city and avoiding the laundry. I do my very best to run a happy and healthy household for my husband and the little people God has entrusted to me.
