When I think of summer, I think of days spent in the sun, extra playtime with friends & neighbors, and lots of good food. More specifically, lots of good, grilled food. And yes, I know that the grill can be a little intimidating. I went years without going near ours. But do me a favor, take the time to learn how to use it, and then make these delicious fruit kebabs. Often. You won’t regret it.
And with just a little prep work, your family & guests will be WOWed by these sweet treats.
Safety first: if you are using wooden skewers, soak them in water before you begin. Ours soaked in a shallow dish for approximately 15 minutes and they had no issues on the grill.
Step 1: Cut up your selection of summer fruit into similar sized pieces. I happened to have peaches, strawberries, and pineapple on hand. Next time, I’d love to try plums and mango!
Step 2: Let your kids in on the fun and let them choose which fruits they want. My girls were so excited about creating patterns with their kebabs. But, please be careful with the pointy skewer sticks!
Step 3: Once your grill is warmed up, add your skewers and grill for a few minutes per side, or until they start to get some good looking grill marks.
Step 4: Add your grilled fruit kebabs to a bowl full of ice-cream and ENJOY!
The five members of my family (myself included) loved all of these grilled fruits, but strawberries and pineapples were neck-in-neck as the favorites.
Have you grilled your fruit before? Which is your favorite?
