Mama, Are You Tired?

tired

Did you say an emphatic “yes” when you read that title?  Are your days filled with caring for little ones?  Do you wake up hitting the ground running and don’t stop until your weary head hits the pillow that you share with that little child who wants to sleep with his mama?

What I want you to know today is you aren’t alone.  There are mamas all over the world, that most likely feel like you.

The work you do matters.  Keeping those little ones fed, entertained, loved, and provided for each and every day, day after day, matters.  Sometimes you feel like no one notices that you don’t get to pee by yourself anymore.  Or that you don’t get the luxury of coming home from a long day of work to recharge for the next day, because you have little people who need you.

The work you do matters.  Have you cleaned up puke all day today?  That matters!  Especially to that little one who has a sick stomach.    Did you answer at least 347 questions today?  That matters!   Did you drop your little one off at daycare so you could go to work to provide for them?  That matters!  Did you read your little one her favorite book for the 15th time? That matters!

Every day you do something for that little one that calls you mom, you are molding a person.  You are showing them what it means to love someone.  You are living it out, right in front of their eyes.  Does it make you tired?  Always. Does it matter?  Always.  Do you want to quit sometimes? Always Sometimes.  And that is okay.  As a mom of elementary/middle school aged kids I want you to know that you will get your time back, you will get yourself back.  Don’t get me wrong, they will still need you – maybe even more than when they are little – it’s just in different ways.  Caring for little ones is exhausting.  But it is a season.  I promise.

So today…

When you refill that sippy cup for the 10th time today know it matters.

When you kiss and hug those little tear stained faces today know it matters.

When you want to scream because you don’t think you can take it anymore, know it matters.

When you put yourself aside, to care for your tribe, know it matters.

When you don’t know what to cook for dinner, and just throw together randomness from the cabinet, know it matters.

Mom, I’m high fiving you, fist bumping you, toasting you.

What you do matters!!!!
