April::
I’m a single working mom of three amazing kiddos, ages 12, 11 and 5. I’m so happy to be back home in Oklahoma, after living for years in New York and Texas for college and my early professional career. After teaching high school English and History for 10 years, I am now an instructional design specialist at a career tech here in OKC. When I’m not racing to my kids’ activities, I enjoy spending time with my large extended family, reading, exercising, listening to live music, and creating healthy meals for my family.
A fun little Q&A with April::
Have you always lived in Yukon?
I was born and raised in the Yukon area, but I went to college in Upstate New York and Abilene. I lived for 13 years all over the state of Texas, but am very happy to be back home in Yukon. It’s a wonderful place to raise my three kiddos.
What are some of your hobbies?
My hobbies, when I have the time to pursue them, are reading great books, trying out new recipes, walking and jogging outside in the Oklahoma breeze, spending time with my extended family, and watching movies.
If you had to choose only one, would you pick cat or dog?
I would definitely pick a dog. My kids have been begging me for one, so we’ll see…
Where would you vacation if you could go anywhere in the world?
If I could go anywhere in the world, I’d probably go to Western Europe. I am a former history teacher, and I LOVE history, so it would be great to visit some of the places I taught my students about!
In everyday life, what is your biggest pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve would have to be plain ol’ rudeness! I think that civility and politeness are SO important to have as we walk through this life with each other. Simply holding a door, refraining from interrupting, and giving up a chair to someone who needs it more make a world of difference!
