Indoor Urban Park OKC

This past Friday, my family and I were able to go to the premier of the Indoor Urban Park at IAO Gallery on Old Film Row in Downtown OKC. This kid-friendly play space is filled with activities, fun and entertainment. From drawing on walls to crawling through tunnels, there’s a little bit of fun for every kind of child and child at heart.

The Indoor Urban Park is, as of right now, a temporary addition to the awesome selection of family fun places around the metro. It is put on by local artists to support creativity, imagination and just plain fun.  From vibrant graffiti walls to draw-on walls to “Make OKC Your Own”, there is definitely an artistic flair.

Construction hats and big cardboard bricks litter the floor when you first walk inside of the indoor urban park. They have tried to make it feel like it’s own city inside with a “road” walkway, cardboard trees, clouds, a farmers’ market stand and little touches of the city throughout the space.

Hula hoops, mini-slides, tunnels, sand boxes, and legos are just a few of the creative exploration activities you and your family will find when you visit. Whether your child is a newborn or in kindergarten, there are safe and fun activities for everyone.

Going to the park is also a sensory experience for the whole family. We enjoyed live music from Spaghetti Eddie and the Sugar Free All Stars while we sipped our Organic Squeeze juice! My daughter loved playing in the light and sand box because of the textures and light sensations it provided her.

The park even has ceiling kite flying and a green screen which make great activities for kids to explore indoors while the weather is still a little cold and unpredictable. So whether you are looking for a fun way to get out as a family in the coming Saturdays or trying to find a fun “experience gift” for Valentine’s Day, check out this great indoor urban park before it’s gone!
