2016 Guide to the Great State Fair of Oklahoma!

State Fair

The much anticipated event of the fall is quickly approaching–the GREAT State Fair of Oklahoma opens on September 15th! Just like last year, the Oklahoma City Mom’s Blog is your source for the ultimate Guide to Family Fun at the Fair!

10 things you don’t want to miss at the 2016 Oklahoma State Fair:

1. Disney on Ice

There will be something for everyone this year at Disney on Ice presents World of Enchantment. The show will feature characters from Cars, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story, and Frozen! Get your tickets for this inevitable crowd pleaser here.

2. Food.

I could probably just stop this post right here, but what fun would that be? Fairs are the best place to get deep fried [insert any random food here]! If fried food isn’t your jam, you could always eat a giant turkey leg or corn on the cob–those are somewhat healthy…right?

3. Animals.

There are SO many places you can see animals at the Fair. If you don’t want to risk having to explain the birds and the bees to your kids after going through the Barnyard Birthing Center, take them directly to the City of AGtropolis where they can learn about the farm-to-market process. Don’t forget to stop by the Great American Petting Zoo and Pony Trail Ride before you head home!

4. Carnival Games.

If giant stuffed animals and short-lived goldfish excite your children, be sure to hit up some carnival games! If nothing else, it will provide YOU with some entertainment!

5. Stop by the Family Fun Zone!

You will not only find a place to rest your feet, but there will also be FUN for the whole family!

6. Jam out to a concert!

There are always so many concerts to choose from, but a few of the headliners this year are Montgomery Gentry, Eli Young Band (my favorite), and Granger Smith!

7. Catch a show!

There are so many choices when it comes to showsyou can listen to some tunes about animals, watch a circus, be hypnotized, or even rock out to some karaoke!

8. Kids Creation Station.

There will always be a free activity for kids in the Creative Arts Building!

9. Carnival Rides.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always been leery of rides that can be loaded up on the back of a semi and transported across the country. If that fear doesn’t resonate with your kids (which, it never does) and they still want to risk getting stuck at the top of the ferris wheel, check out how to save on carnival rides here.

10. Discounts.

You can save on food, drink, and rides with this Coupon Book! As always, there are also Discount Days:

  • Thursday, September 15th: Opening Day – $2.00 Admission
  • Monday, September 19th: School Kids’ Day – FREE admission for all kids thru 12th grade
  • Tuesday, September 20th: Super Saver Tuesday/Armed Forces Day – $3.00 admission and FREE admission for military members and spouses.
