What’s the holiday season without taking in some holiday lights? Some of the best memories are made by loading up in the car and visiting some of the amazing displays the metro has to offer!

Visitors will enjoy live music, pony rides, cookies and hot chocolate, crafts for the kids with Mrs. Claus, and of course a visit with the Jolly ol’ Elf!

Automobile Alley – Head downtown and check out Broadway from NW 4th to 10th street to see more than 180,000 LED lights drape the buildings in historic Automobile Alley.  Lights are on November 19th – January 1st from dusk to dawn.

Markwell Avenue – Located west of Council off NW 23rd Street, this entire block participates in a light show set to music. Information for 2016 is not yet posted but we will update with more details as soon as possible!

Downs Family Lights – Head south to Norman for this show beginning November 24th and running nightly from 6 pm until midnight. Bring a canned food item to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. Cash donations are also welcome.

Bricktown Canal – Stroll the canal or take a water taxi ride and enjoy a spectacular lights display.  The lights are on from November 25 – January 1 and be sure to catch a water taxi ride – free on certain nights of the week.

Bricktown Tree Lighting Festival – Watch Mayor Mick Cornett light the tree with Santa while enjoying a festive atmosphere featuring food, music, face painting, and more! The tree can be found at the 3rd Base Plaza at the Chickasaw Bricktown Baseball Stadium.  The lighting will take place on November 25th between 5-7 pm.

Christmas in the Park – 4 million lights and over 400 displays take over 100 acres in Yukon at Yukon City Park, Freedom Trail, and Chisolm Trail Parks. Lights display opens November 19th.

Lighting of the Commons – Join the campus of Oklahoma Christian on November 29th, from 6-8 pm as they light their campus in time for the holidays!  Enjoy carriage rides, hot cocoa, a picture with Santa and more!

Kelly is a working momma to her daughter, Genevieve (2014) and son, J.W. (2016). She’s an Edmond native, but left the state to get a degree in journalism from Texas Christian University (Go Frogs!) and work in Dallas for a few years. She moved back “home” to Oklahoma after meeting her husband and is now so thrilled to be raising her children right where she grew up! When she’s not working or playing with her kiddos, she’s making note of some of motherhood’s (mis)adventures and celebrating mediocrity on her blog –The OK Momma.

  1. Hey Kelly. I’m a real estate broker in the Seattle market. I’m promoting local events here in my local area. I live in a military community. One of my lenders went to the same elementry school as me!
I grew up in Moore in the late 80’s. We traveled somewhere on the North side to see an impressive neighborhood of xmas lights.
I cant remember the name of that neighborhood
I think it had some sort of beach or boat name to it. Are their neighborhoods in the NW part of OKC having impressive holiday lights still?
