I may have a bit of a sweet tooth…so when I learned about the amazing 42nd Street Candy Company, I was immediately thrilled! Walking into the store makes me feel like a kid again. The brightly colored candy displays put a smile on my face and literally gets me giddy when I see all the candy that could be mine.

This shop has been a part of Oklahoma City since 1979 (which makes it the oldest independently owned candy store in the state!) You can find it’s location by it’s name – on 42nd Street and Western Avenue. For the last 15 years, Teresa has owned the shop, and has done a fabulous job. Every time that I’ve visited, her passion for our city and her job have been very obvious. Her desire to give her customers the best experience is evident in the store, and through the events, baskets, and specialty projects that she takes on. No detail is out of place and she always goes the extra mile.

With each visit, Teresa talks with enthusiasm about the store’s upcoming projects. She lives for the details and it is obvious in the shop’s decor and specialty candies. Where else can you find candy that is shaped like airplanes? Or that look like peas and carrots? And if you want something that isn’t in store, Teresa is on the job and can probably find it. She makes this store a place to visit and frequent in OKC.

And if you aren’t quite sure what you are looking for… let me assure you, 42nd Street Candy Company has a little bit of everything. A fabulous candy bar, a refrigerator full of chocolates, and a room full of some old classics that will surely make you smile!
