The After Hours Nosh

I don’t know about you, but once I’ve put my brood down for the night, it hits me.  It’s like clockwork – 9:00pm. I need something really good to eat.  It’s the after hours nosh.  It’s a lot of work to get 3 kids fed, homework done, bathed and to bed.  Some evenings I talk myself into a cup of hot tea.  Because thats the responsible thing to do.  But when I don’t care about being responsible, I raid the cabinet.  My “go to” is a handful of chocolate chips and a spoon of peanut butter.  But when I want to get fancy, I grab the cresent rolls tube and the jar of nutella.

The recipe is simple:  Scoop some nutella on your cresent roll dough, roll up, and bake for 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees.

Cresent rolls alone can be decadent right out of the oven with a pat of butter that quickly melts between the rolled up goodness.  But there is nothing quite like that warm doughy goodness with a surprise of nutella in the middle.  You can even play around with presentation.  Cut them in mini cinnamon rolls, as show above, if you want to break the standard cresent mold.  Now you can carry that hot cookie sheet right into the living room and call it good. Or to go with your fancy theme, break out the wedding china you never use.  The after hours nosh is special.  You can pair it with your favorite tv show you’ve been saving to watch.  Or maybe the iPad with an hour of pinterest browsing.  Are you a reader?  The perfect book and a snack can do wonders for the soul.  Take a few moments, or hours if your that late night mama, and indulge yourself.  You worked hard today mom.  You deserve it!
