Meet Kelly, Lindsay & Mollie! {New Contributors!}

We are so excited to add these mamas to our team! We’d love to introduce you to Kelly, Lindsay and Mollie!

Kelly

Kelly was born near Alva, grew up in Enid and then near Miami, Oklahoma. She met her handsome husband Charles while they were both students at OSU and were working at the old Bobo’s Restaurante Y Cantina in Stillwater. They were married in 1992 and became parents five years later, first to Miranda, now 19, and then after a five-year-long recovery period, to Janie, now 14, from which they have not really recovered. Kelly has been a freakishly happy stay-at-home-mom for nearly two decades, and has more hobbies than is probably healthy for one to have. When she is not outside tending to her flowers and shrubs, she may be making jewelry, sewing or quilting, working on her watercolor painting skills, or baking something scrumptious. Occasionally, her hobbies are interrupted by housework. Volunteering for her children’s schools and arts programs has been a pivotal experience for Kelly. Proud to be a Drama Mama and a Choir Booster, she has worked hard to support the fine arts in education because she has seen the positive impact these activities have on student lives. Kelly is very happy to be putting her BA in English to good use, by helping to teach ACT Test prep workshops, writing a fictionalized family memoir, and with OKC Moms Blog, making a contribution from the perspective of a mom to older kids.

1. What is the most random thing in your purse right now?
A small spiral notebook that I used to take notes a few weeks ago at a gallery reading with a medium, filled with doodles and quotes from the session. Favorite quote, “Chores can be a meditation – honoring a creative energy of cleaning, smoothing out – creating a positive energy and result.”

2.Who is your favorite TV mom?
My favorite TV mom would have to be Carol Brady – she met the challenges of blending two families with humor, sensitivity, and determination.

3. Favorite thing to do with your children in Oklahoma City?
We always enjoy Science Museum Oklahoma; our children are older, 14 and 19, but they still love to go explore the older exhibits and see what is new.

4. What are you most passionate about outside of motherhood?
I am most passionate about creativity – whether it is sewing, painting, cooking, writing poetry, making jewelry, gardening or diy projects.  For me, every day needs to have that little spot of something creative or else I feel like I am missing out on one of the most important things in life.

5. If someone met you for the first time, what is something you’d want them to know about you?
I would want them to know that I am grateful for every day of my life’s journey, and that I am happy to have met them.

Lindsay

Cassie Duffle Photography

Lindsay hails from Amarillo, Texas but moved to the OKC Metro seven years ago to attend Oklahoma Christian University. While there, she met her college sweetheart and they married after Freshman year! She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and served as a Kindergarten teacher for three years before she chose to stay home with her itty-bitty pretty one, Miss A, who was born in November 2016. Lindsay loves all things child-development, craftiness, and is an avid Netflix documentary binger. You can also find her raising a “joyful noise” in her church choir and *secretly* dreaming of becoming an elephant trainer one day!

1. What is the most random thing in your purse right now?
The most random thing in my purse right now is probably a baby diaper!

2. Who is your favorite TV mom?
My favorite TV mom is Sophia Petrillo from “Golden Girls”.

3. Favorite thing to do with your children in Oklahoma City?
My favorite thing to do in OKC with my munchkin is walk around our awesome zoo!

4. What are you most passionate about outside of motherhood?
I am most passionate about education. Our children deserve the very best!

5. If someone met you for the first time, what is something you’d want them to know about you?
There are two things I’d want people to know about me that wouldn’t be quite obvious initially—elephants are my spirit animal and Disney World is *literally* my favorite place on Earth.

Mollie

Cassie Duffle Photography

Mollie is a stay-at-home-mom of three beautiful children ages 4, 2, & 1 years old. She is married to her wonderful husband of five years, Dustin, whom she met in the 2nd grade. Before she became a SAHM, she taught elementary school: Special Ed and 1st grade. Education, writing, hostessing, and music- particularly Broadway musicals- are passions of hers, and she will DIY just about anything! She also loves to decorate, cook, take family walks, and binge watch British TV shows on Netflix!!

1. What is the most random thing in your purse right now?
A receipt from TJ Maxx from 3 years ago. Clearly I clean out a lot.

2. Who is your favorite TV mom?
Claire Dunfee from Modern Family

3. Favorite thing to do with your children in Oklahoma City?
Definitely the zoo when the weather is nice! And even though it’s technically in Edmond, the place we love to go most is Unpluggits! It’s stress free, age appropriate for my kiddos, and we can spend hours there on hot, frigid, or rainy days.

4. What are you most passionate about outside of motherhood?
I have a passion for serving and helping others and a strong suit for planning and hosting parties.

5. If someone met you for the first time, what is something you’d want them to know about you?
I’m an imperfect person doing the best that I can. I am an extroverted introvert and do my level best to be inclusive and genuine. Sometimes I don’t get everything right, but I’m always seeking to improve.

We hope you enjoy reading about these ladies and the new perspectives they will bring to Oklahoma City Moms Blog! We are thrilled to add them to our writing team!
