30 Free Things to Do in Oklahoma City This Fall

Fall is finally here! School is back in session and cooler weather is just around the corner. Having fun in Oklahoma City doesn’t have to be expensive. There are so many FREE things to do in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. With the cooler temperatures, you can get out and enjoy fun activities and local attractions. I’ve created a list of 30 free things to do in Oklahoma City that you can do and enjoy with the family this fall. There’s something for each day of the month.  So get started and have a great fall with your kids!

  1. Head to one of the local nature parks to check out the fall foliage
  2. Through the end of September, head down to the Myriad Botanical Gardens’ Great Lawn Stage for their Sunday Twilight Concert Series for a free evening of music. (Find more free music & movies here)
  3. Bake with the kids and make something with pumpkin. (We love this Pumpkin Roll recipe)
  4. Go for a bicycle ride or walk along the Oklahoma River.
  5. Collect sticks and create twig picture frames.
  6. Take an Art Walk – The 1stFriday of each month, the Paseo District hosts an art walk. The 2ndFriday of each month, Norman hosts theirs. Explore different artists and galleries during this free events.
  7. Pitch a tent in your backyard and have a family campout. Enjoy some s’mores too!
  8. Enjoy The Mix outdoor concert series at DC on Film Row (609 W. Sheridan Ave.) – Free concert every second Thursday through October. Food trucks start at 6:30 pm. Music starts at 7pm.

  10. Go to a local pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin.
  11. Carve or paint a pumpkin with the kids.
  12. Take a drive and do a fall color scavenger hunt.
  13. Be thankful by giving back to the local community. We like volunteering at the Regional Food Bank.
  14. Free Lego Build at the Lego Store, Penn Square Mall on 1st Tuesday of the Month.
  15. Make homemade applesauce.
  16. Attend Heard on Hurd in Edmond – A free family friendly event featuring food trucks, local music, and local shops. Third Saturday of each month through end of October.
  17. Head to the Myriad Botanical Gardens and let the kids splash in the water play area or the just play in the Children’s Garden.
  18. Meet friends at a local park and have a picnic.
  19. Visit the Express Clydesdales – Just north of Yukon, tour the Express Clydesdales Barn and see the horses for free.
  20. Drink apple cider

  22. Decorate your home for Halloween or fall.
  23. Visit the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman– Free the first Monday of each month.
  24. Host a Fall themed or Halloween party and invite friends and neighbors over.
  25. Go to Stockyards City for one of the largest cattle auctions in the country. Held Mondays and Tuesdays at 9 a.m.
  26. Have fun at a Fall Festival. Play some games, enjoy cotton candy, and enjoy the day.
  27. Visit a corn maze.
  28. Oklahoma Railway Museum– This fun museum is always free. They have a great collection of rail cars and exhibits to explore.
  29. Create a Thankful Tree Centerpiece.
  30. Take a flashlight walk – Now that it’s getting darker earlier, get outside and see what you can see at night.

  1. Baby Boot Camp Norman is a stroller-fitness business catering to moms and kiddos. Our 5 year anniversary is coming up and we are having a BIG, Free event! We will feature 2 workout classes, vendors, and a raffle. The first 30 attendees will receive a swag bag.
