2016 Guide: Pick Your Own Farms & Orchards Around OKC

There are only a few more weeks of school for my little ones and then we are on summer break! We are already counting down the days until we get to sleep in (yea right), lounge in our pjs, and have no commitments. But, truth be told, after a day or two of that, my kids will be begging for some fun. And fun for us, includes being outside and digging in the dirt. Here’s a round up of pick-your-own farms & orchards near OKC for 2016.

pick your own 2016

Berry Creek Farm is southeast of the metro in Blanchard, OK with a large selection of organic produce for pick-your-own (strawberries, peaches, and grapes) and from-the-farm sales.

Buffalo Creek Berry Farm is bigger and better this year and are located southeast of the metro in Mustang, OK. They are optimistic that their blackberries, black raspberries, and strawberries will be great again this year, and that they’ll have a full sand plum crop for picking too. In addition to those, they also have squash, zucchini, cucumbers, watermelon, cantaloupe, and pumpkins available. Hours will be Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5 to 8 PM and Sundays, 2 to 7 PM.

Cimarron Valley Research Station is on the northeast side of the metro in Perkins, OK and is a part of the Oklahoma State Agricultural department. They offer pick your own peaches starting in July.

Faithful Farms is south of OKC and located in Ardmore, OK. They offer a you pick peach orchard that will be producing around mid-June through late July. They also have 3 large gardens that will include: cucumber, yellow squash, peppers, green beans, peas, okra, and cantaloupe. They have 25 free range hens, 9 ducks, and 5 dogs that the kids will also enjoy seeing! And if you get a group together and call in advance, you can even gather your own eggs!

First Fruits Berry Farm is on the north side of the metro in Edmond, OK. This farm has been around for 46 years is home to thornless blackberries that are usually ready for picking in July.

Providence Farms is located on S Western Avenue in OKC. And although they aren’t exactly a “you pick” farm, I couldn’t leave them off the list because they offer classes and events that the whole family can enjoy. Their produce is all chemical and GMO free and you can watch them pick your food.

Sorghum Mill Blackberry Farm is located in north Edmond, OK and offers pick your own blackberries starting in June.

TG Farms offers summer tours and you pick blackberries at their Norman, OK location starting mid-June. They also have a location in Newcastle, OK that is open 7 days a week and has a variety produce and farm animals.

Vision Farms is just north of the metro in Guthrie, OK. They will have a large potato harvest starting at the end of May and first of June. They will also have green beans, okra and purple hulk peas later this summer.

Wind Drift Orchard has two locations on the east side of OKC in Harrah, OK. They offer a variety of peaches that ripen at different times, so they can offer “you pick” from mid-June through August.

Please note, none of these locations can guarantee their crops for the 2016 season so be sure to call for availability on fruits & veggies BEFORE you load up the kids and take a drive.
